About
The Modern Port Operations Company (MPOC) is the principal port operator in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, established to drive the efficient, modernized, and internationally competitive management of the nation’s key maritime infrastructure and services. As part of a national reform of maritime logistics and trade facilitation, MPOC assumed responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the country’s port system, including cargo handling, terminal operations, customer service, logistics coordination, and operational oversight of port facilities. MPOC emerged from a strategic restructuring of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Port Authority (SVGPA), which shifted its focus to independent regulatory functions while MPOC became the dedicated operating entity responsible for delivering commercial, logistical, and service excellence at the nation’s ports. This separation aligns the country with global best practices in port governance, enhances operational accountability, and supports efforts to attract investment and strengthen international trade linkages. The company’s operating footprint encompasses the management of cargo terminals, cruise facilities, freight processing systems, berthing services, and associated logistics infrastructure. MPOC plays a pivotal role in facilitating efficient maritime trade, supporting economic growth, and ensuring seamless movement of goods and vessels within national waters. Since the official commissioning of the Kingstown Modern Port in late 2025, MPOC has undertaken full operational responsibility for this state-of-the-art deep-water facility, as well as for other port locations across the archipelago. In addition to its core operational mandate, MPOC engages in community-oriented initiatives and partnerships that reflect its broader commitment to national development and stakeholder engagement.
