St. Vincent Electricity Services Limited (VINLEC) is the sole provider of electricity in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Established in 1961, VINLEC became a fully state-owned entity in 1985. The company serves over 46,000 customers, supplying electricity to approximately 98% of the population through a network of diesel, hydro, and solar power stations. Its operations span multiple islands, including Bequia, Canouan, Union Island, and Mayreau. VINLEC is actively involved in renewable energy initiatives, such as hydroelectric and solar power generation, and has undertaken projects like the Utility Battery Storage Project to enhance energy storage capabilities.
